CALIFORNIA GEOLOGY Magazine

All past issues of Mineral Information Service and CALIFORNIA GEOLOGY™ magazine are available as PDF files through this web page.

History

Before the internet, CALIFORNIA GEOLOGY™ was our primary means of sharing geological information with the public, first as Mineral Information Service (1948-1970), then as CALIFORNIA GEOLOGY (1971-2001). The magazine had been instrumental in providing professionals and the public with information on California’s geology, mining history, seismology, and announcements of pertinent legislation and events. At its peak, paid subscriptions reached 14,507 plus many free distributions to schools, libraries, and other public repositories. The magazine was published monthly until 1992, then bimonthly until late 2001 when, due to staff reductions and a decrease in paid subscriptions, it was deemed no longer feasible to continue production.

Update: It's back!
