The Executive Officer has been invited to participate or speak at several functions, including:
Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologist (BPELG) Geologist and Geophysicist Technical Advisory Committee, February 7, 2013, Revisions to Guidelines for Preparing Engineering Geologic Reports - Division of Mines and Geology Note 44.
Co-sponsoring the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) Geosciences Technology Workshop (GTW), February 26-27, 2013, on Solving Water Problems and Gas Production: New Technologies for Cost Savings and New Revenue Flows. This GTW addresses concerns regarding water management, particularly as topics such as hydraulic fracturing, changing weather patterns, and federal and state water regulations are becoming more prevalent in the media.
Will receive the AAPG-Energy Minerals Division Past President Award and Presidential Certificate of Merit at their April 2013 annual meeting.
Co-chairing the History of Petroleum Geology (HoPG) Symposium at AAPG's April 2013 annual meeting, and presenting a talk on "From the Battle of Fredericksburg to Promised Lands - A Historical Overview of Hydraulic Fracturing".
San Juan Geological Society invited the EO to give a talk on a topic of his choosing on April 9, 2013. Likely topics may be related to history of oil and gas development in California, history of the CA Geological Survey and development of geological policy in the 19th Century, or historical development of enhanced production of oil and gas in California.
Serves as Chairman of the Geological Society of America (GSA) Energy Committee with the mission to revise and update their policy statement on Energy.
Attended the Central Sierra Mining Association dinner meeting on February 15, 2013 in Jackson, CA.
