Mine Reclamation - Workshop Information 

Training Offered by OMR

The office of Mine Reclamation (OMR) offers workshops throughout the state.  Training is offered in the subjects listed below.  For a list of the current workshop schedule click here:

Surface Mining and Reclamation Act (SMARA) Introduction Workshop

Description:  SMARA training workshops are designed to help lead agencies and mine operators understand their  respective roles and responsibilities under SMARA.  This includes reclmation plans (geotechnical requirements, revegetation, end use, etc.), Annual Report process, financial assurance cost estimates and enforcement process.

Target Audience:  Lead agencies and mine operators

Annual Inspection Workshop

Description:  This workshop will focus on conducting the SMARA annual inpsections, including observing and measuring site conditions, updating financial assurances, completing the inspection form, and corrective actions/enforcement.

Target Audience:  Designed to train lead agency staff and consultants who conduct annual inspections of surface mining operations.

In-Stream Mining and Monitoring

SMARA Requirements unique to in-stream mining operations including fluvial geomorphology, impacts to infrastructure, streambed alteration agreements and case studies.

Target Audience:  Lead agency staff, consultants and mine operators
