Laws, Regulations, and Court Cases
The California Land Conservation Act of 1965, commonly known as the Williamson Act, contains the statutes (laws) governing the administration of its various activities. The Open Space Subvention Act of 1971 contains the statutes governing subvention payments to cities and counties for lands enrolled under Williamson Act or Farmland Security Zone contracts or other defined enforceable restrictions. Regulations have also been approved to support the Open Space Subvention Act.
The Division provides an annual summary of amendments and new legislation affecting Williamson Act Program activities. In addition, interpretation and precedent is provided by judicial decisions of court cases, some of which are posted here.
