Funding Application Process
The CFCP reviews applications on a continuous basis; applications may be submitted for consideration at any time. Public announcements of agricultural conservation easement projects are released as the projects are completed. Potential applicants should see the Request for Grant Applications for application guidelines.
The vast majority of CFCP projects are funded through proceeds from the sale of bonds authorized under various state propositions. This includes $25 million from Proposition 12, $45 million from Proposition 40, and $10 million from Proposition 84 (which passed in 2000, 2002, and 2006, respectively). While appropriations remain from Propositions 40 and 84, final approval of projects is linked with the availability of bond proceeds; this may extend the timeline from the pre-application phase until project approval.
While the application process has not changed, future requirements may affect the process. Please check this page for updates.
