Commenting on his new appointment Doctor Parrish recently said, "I look at it as the best state geologist job in the nation. California is the most geologically diverse and seismically active state in the nation, and we went and put a huge population on top of it. So heading up CGS means heading up the premier geological survey in the country and that's a lot to live up to."
